This product took almost a year of development before finalizing a design we were truly happy with. The GEN 2 Prius doesn't have a sub frame like the later GEN 3 and GEN 4 Prii which makes mounting a skid plate to the bottom a serious challenge. Fortunately we were able to come up with a way to mount them utilizing the rear engine mounts, and the front radiator crossmember. We also listened to your requests to include an oil filter access door, along with an oil drain window. These skid plates are laser cut from 1\/8\\\u0026quot; 5052 Aluminum and completely replaces the plastic splash guard that is prone to being damaged or ripped off all together. We also left the option of maintaining the factory wheel well fender liners, or it can also be used without if your existing fender well liners have since gone MIA. Naturally corrosion resistant and CNC formed to reduce vibration, and increase rigidity. Installation takes roughly 30 minutes with only 3 basic hand tools. Provides a slight increase in ground clearance vs. factory plastic splash guards and increases approach angle. Offers increased theft protection for the front catalytic converter. Does not cover rear catalytic converter but works in unison with all cat protection devices on the market (We recommend Miller Cat Shield).
